Blog 3

Have you ever had the thought or feeling ‘there must be something more’?  Are you tired of just existing?  If so, it is time to thrive.  Someone I know recently coined this definition of Resilience: The power or ability to return to the original form, position, etc. after being bent, compressed or stretched; elasticity. (J.Zamora)  He also stated “The power of resilience is greater than failure, fear or circumstances.  Life will bend you, try you, pull you, but what God has put in you will not be destroyed.” (J.Zamora)

These are two powerful quotes to ponder as we look at the ‘more’.  If you are wondering if there is something more, I am right there with you.  I have been in that holding pattern often, circling and circling, looking for a place to land.  My desire for something more compels me to continue to search.  I had a dream once of being on a 757 airliner headed somewhere.  During the flight the flight crew said to prepare for a crash landing.  We tucked our heads, prepared for a crash and then seemed to land effortlessly.  When we look out the window we had not crashed at all and appeared to have landed on a landing strip high up on a mountain.  We all got off the plane safely.  We were on the top of a high plateau mountain.  All were safe even though we were not at our intended destination.  There was no fear and it ‘felt’ as if this was where we were meant to be.

What if your intended destination is not the right destination?  What if the path of life leads you to something unfamiliar but right for you?  What if the ‘more’ you are longing for is available to you right now?  Can you continue to wrestle with audacious hope with me for a while longer?
Have you limited yourself to accept only that for which you have predefined as possible?  What if you gave yourself permission to step out of the rut of unfulfilled dreams and unreached destinies?  Are you brave enough to hope for more?  Think about these questions.  Ever feel like you have spent your life chasing elusiveness?  Always searching for something you cannot quite touch?  Reaching for a mirage to watch it disappear when you finally grasp it?  Constantly running toward an undefined goal, yet never quite able to bring that vision into focus and find a starting place for your dreams?
This may be your time.

There is an unsatisfied hunger in most of us.  We try to fill it many ways-people, things, careers, thrills, mind altering substances.  All these attempts to fill our hunger are facades that fall far short of fulfillment.  What is there to reach for that will be stationary and unchanging?  How do you find the right path?  How will life ‘outside of the rut’ look and feel?

Be brave with me.   We will explore that a bit in the next blog.   See you next time and thanks for sharing your time with me...
